LOCHS

FYNE

The home of the world famous Oyster Bar, serving some of the best seafood to be found anywhere, Loch Fyne is also the longest loch in Scotland. If you need any further recommendation to visit the Oyster Bar, then listen to Allan Englehart

"The seafood from Loch Fyne is the best in the world. No ifs, no buts, no maybes. The best. The standard to go for is their seafood platter which is so big that I can not see over it. (I'm about two meters tall or 6'6" so it is a big plate.) Eat there. I once drove the 1,000 miles round-trip from St Albans just for lunch. It was worth it. "

The Crinan Canal is nine miles long and links Loch Fyne at Ardrishaig to Crinan on the West Coast. It was opened in 1801 to help the fishing fleets of Loch Fyne and the Clyde reach the open sea from the Firth of Clyde without the long and rough passage round the Kintyre Peninsula. You too can use it to sail from the shelter of the Clyde to the fine sailing waters of the West Highlands.
